This page explains what information SlangHub collects and how it is used. SlangHub does not require an account, does not collect payment information, and does not sell personal data.

Vote and view tracking

To support upvoting, downvoting, and unique view counts, SlangHub uses a browser cookie that contains an anonymous, non-reversible identifier. That identifier is derived from a combination of your IP address, your browser's user-agent, and a private server-side salt. It cannot be reversed into your identity, and it is only used to prevent the same visitor from voting or counting a view multiple times.

Note: this identifier is a heuristic, not a secure authentication mechanism. It is intended to discourage casual abuse of voting and view counts, not to identify you.

Analytics

SlangHub uses Vercel Analytics, which collects aggregate, privacy-friendly metrics such as page views, visit duration, and device/browser information. This data does not include personal identifiers and is used only to understand how the site is used.

Cookies

SlangHub uses a single HttpOnly cookie to persist your anonymous visitor identifier for voting and view tracking, plus any cookies required by Vercel Analytics. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies are used.

Children's privacy

SlangHub does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The site is a public dictionary and requires no registration.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page, and continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
